2018 EC elections

There will be two ordinary member posts coming up for election in September. Six officer posts will also become available:

  • Chair
  • Secretary
  • Media Coordinator
  • Newsletter Editor
  • Postgraduate Development and Liaison Coordinator
  • SIG Coordinator

Descriptions of the posts can be found here. Nominations for candidates to stand for election to the above posts will be accepted until midday on 7th September, the day of the AGM at York St John, and the election (if more than one candidate stands) will take place at the AGM. For this, candidates will need to prepare a short statement giving a brief biography and highlighting the contribution they could make to the BAAL committee. If you are interested in putting yourself forward for these posts and cannot attend the conference, please contact the BAAL Secretary, Dawn Knight, directly (

Membership of the Executive Committee offers an opportunity to contribute directly to BAAL policy, initiatives, and activity, and to the promotion and representation of applied linguistics at a national (and often international) level. Executive Committee members are expected to attend three EC meetings per year, and reasonable expenses for attendance at these are covered by BAAL. We encourage BAAL members to consider standing for an Executive Committee post; please contact Dawn Knight (BAAL Secretary – or Tess Fitzpatrick (BAAL Chair – if you would like any more information.
