BAAL Annual Meeting - Student Scholarships BAAL offers an award to up to ten postgraduate students, based in the UK, who have had a paper or poster accepted for the Annual Meeting and who would otherwise be unable to attend. The scholarship helps towards covering the cost of the conference fee and accommodation. BAAL does not provide additional living subsidies once the sponsored scholar is at the Conference. BAAL Annual Meeting - Overseas Scholarships BAAL offers two awards (one of which is the Chris Brumfit Award) to international colleagues, based overseas, who have had papers accepted for the Annual Meeting and who would otherwise be unable to attend because of economic hardship. The scholarships cover the conference fee, accommodation and travel up to £1,000. BAAL does not provide additional living subsidies once the sponsored scholar is at the conference. Applied Linguistics Activity Fund The BAAL Applied Linguistics Activity Fund awards small amounts of funding to promote activity related to applied linguistics carried out by individuals and organisations. Applications are considered by the BAAL Executive Committee at their meetings held in April, September and December. The deadlines for application are:
Retrospective applications will not be eligible. BAAL offers an award to an international colleague, based overseas, who wishes to collaborate with a UK Applied Linguist on a particular project. Applications are considered by the BAAL Executive Committee at their meeting held in April, and applications must be received by the BAAL Secretary no later than 31 March. Retrospective applications will not be eligible. One International Link award, not exceeding £1,000, is made each year.
