Benefiting the Applied Linguistics Community

BAAL supports the Applied Linguistics community in many practical ways. As well as benefits for the individual member (see left), we offer a range of funding opportunities and bursaries for activities and individuals.

 

These include:

 

• Applying Linguistics Activity fund
• Support for Special Interest Groups
• UK and International Conference Scholarships (see below)
• The Christopher Brumfit Conference Scholarship (see below)
• Funding for seminars in our annual seminars series

 

Conference Scholarships

• Those wishing to apply for a UK or international scholarship (both types) will need to indicate this when they submit an abstract online.
• Once the abstracts have been vetted, the necessary forms will be sent to those who have indicated that they wanted to be considered for a scholarship.
• The UK scholarships will be awarded to the ten highest scoring scholarship applicants (in terms of reviewer rating).
• The International and Christopher Brumfit scholarships will be awarded once the completed application forms have been reviewed. To find out more about the Chris Brumfit scholarship, click here.
